These celebrities wrote incredible books – Celebrity authors

Some celebrities have been known to write books, mostly ghostwritten, about their lives and experiences. Even though some are badly written, they become bestsellers still because of the popularity of the celebrity. But there are read-worthy material out there and you don’t have to look far and wide. Here are some that are worthy of spending your precious time on.

Bossypants by Tina Fey

American comedienne Tina Fey is truly an intelligent and engaging character. Through this book, she was able to tell her tale of living and working in a man’s world – and thriving. Published in 2011 by Little, Brown and Company, Bossypants was on the New York Times Best Seller list for five weeks. Fey also released an audiobook, which earned a Grammy nomination. It was lauded by various critics and loved by the public. It was re-printed in 2012.

Uncommon Type by Tom Hanks

As early as 2014, American actor Tom Hanks announced that he was going to write a book inspired by his love for typewriters. Published by Random House in 2017, Uncommon Type is Hanks’ first foray into fiction writing. It is a collection of 17 short stories available in hardcover, paperback, eBook, and audio (read by Hanks himself). The book has various characters, each with his own story and demonstrates various aspects of humanity, all intertwined with a typewriter. It received mixed reviews, mostly positive. The book made it to the New York Times’ Best Seller list and is a Times Book of the Year. The Guardian, said no Hanks.

Seriously … I’m Kidding by Ellen Degeneres

American TV host and comedienne Ellen Degeneres shows her wit and candor as she writes about her life, from her work to her relationship with her wife Portia de Rossi. Published by Grand Central Publishing in 2011, in her own brand of humor, Degeneres opens up about her life experiences and what she learned from each one. She does not lose her touch by dropping her trademark punchlines. As you read her book, you see her character shine through and smile – or chuckle. This is Degeneres’ third book. And this is available in hardcover, paperback, and audio.
