Memetales is a revolutionary children's picture book platform where you can publish your books online and market it directly to book lovers. It is a place where the publisher, writer, illustrator, children, parents, crafters, educators and just about anybody can "gather" around the book and "experience" the book in any way they like.
Marketing today is very different from what it was only a few years ago. It is no more about just writing a book and listing it on Amazon. Memetales provides an opportunity for authors and illustrators to really connect with the community by engaging in multiple ways around the book and developing a real connection with the readers and parents.
For parents and educators, Memetales provides online books with incredible value add with engaging videos, activities and theme related learning. With the ability to "contribute" content, educators have a great opportunity to share and exchange lesson plans and experiences as well. Children learn much better in a peer environment. Memetales will continue to add tools to track and help with contributions and reading by the kids.
The idea for Memetales was born less than a year ago - when Maya decided to write and publish some children's books along with her sister (an illustrator/animator). Understanding that traditional publishing was not easy and she would not even be able to choose her own illustrator, Maya created an online Collaboration space where writers and illustrators can come together to create books. This is the Memetales Collaboration Space.
It did not take long for Maya to realize that she would have to extend the dynamism, energy and collaborative spirit of the Collaboration Space into the Memetales Marketplace. The Collaboration Space and Community had guided the development of the Memetales Marketplace. Really, what better way is there to market something than to let people take it and make it their own?
Because times are changing. We are online. Our children are online. A lot of education is moving online. Books are already online. With so much online, why should our children have to spend time online in not so constructive ways? If so many people are online, why should writers, illustrators and book publishers struggle with getting their books into physical stores? Technology makes it possible to create richer experiences online and why not use it for the betterment of our children and the talented writers and illustrators of these wonderful picture books? A book is a trigger and the online world is a medium. In the end, Memetales aims to enrich the REAL life of children, providing REAL experiences, books and activities for children to engage it - away from the computer too!
Memetales will always be about books and the inspiration from books. Children's books are immensely rich in potential and Memetales always focus on ways to continue to inspire the book lover community around these books in whatever way they like. We are a small startup built with community input from Day 1.
